Things To Do Over Summer 2018
Now that exams, school and College are a thing of the past (at least for a few weeks), it's time to start thinking about our favourite time of year - summer! We don't want you to be at a loss of things to do, so we thought we'd give you a list of some of our favourite things happening in and around Milton Keynes this Summer.
First up is our Festival in the City. That's right, we're rivaling the likes of Glastonbury, Reading and RiZE Festival with our very own event in centre:mk. We'll be in Middleton Hall (you know, just outside John Lewis?) from Thursday 14th - Saturday 16th June, from 10am-5pm every day. Headlining we've got our Performing Arts & Music students to entertain you with a variety of performances, featuring something for everyone. You can also take a seat and get some style tips from the Barber of the Year finals. You can also wonder around art exhibitions, featuring work from our Art & Design, Graphic Design, Photography and Fashion students. Our restaurant, The Brasserie will have their own pop-up kitchen, where they will be cooking up some dish demos. You can also get your hair and nails done at The Graduate Salon pop-up. There's no need to sign up, just come on down on the day!
Mark Watson is coming to The Stables on Sunday 22nd July. Fresh from fighting mother nature on Bear Grylls' Celebrity version of The Island, the multi-award winning writer is bringing his witty food for thought to MK. Get your tickets now before they're gone!
Another local favourite returns this year, The Bedford River Festival will take place from 14th - 15th July, and the best thing about it is that it is completely free to the public. With live entertainment, river events, parade, funfair, fireworks, sports and loads more, get a group of friends together and head down to join in with the fun.
Explore your own backyard! Among all the big events this Summer, it's important to take some time to relax. A perfect chance to do this is with a Summer walk around one of the many green areas in and around Milton Keynes. With loads on local transport routes, grab your picnic blanket and enjoy the sunshine while it's here!
Get some work experience, or do some volunteering. We know it's your time off, but there's no harm in getting ahead, and doing some good while you're at it. Local charities and businesses are always looking for volunteers to help out in a huge variety of industries.
Find out what Festival you should go to in 2018, and be in with a chance to win a Ticketmaster Gift Card! Aside from our own Festival in the City, there's loads happening up and down the country this year, so take the quiz and
