Top Five Ways to Wind Down Over Christmas

Christmas is one of the most exciting times of year – who doesn’t love a holiday surrounding friends, family, presents and a lot of food? The phrase ‘wind down’ is particularly over used over the festive period, as it is one of the only times of year when you can have a break from your work without feeling guilty or falling behind.

Sometimes when you’re particularly worried, stressed or in quite deep into something, whether its work related or not, it can be hard to switc off and relax. Christmas can be stressful in itself, so here are our top 10 tips to make sure you have a holly jolly relaxing Christmas.

5. Be well prepared

4. Get into the Christmas spirit
Whether it’s watching Elf in your pyjamas, decorating the tree with your family or going to a Christmas market – if the most wonderful time of the year won’t chill you out, what will!? After all, tis the season to be jolly! 

3. Make time for your family and friends
We all have busy lives, and sometimes there’s just not enough time in the day. Spend quality time with your family and friends this Christmas, even if it’s just for a catch up over a coffee. Talking about things with someone who has an outside perspective can be really helpful and refreshing.

2. Do nothing – no, really
When was the last time you spent an entire day in your pyjamas just watching TV? Plan a day for yourself by yourself, whether you go shopping on your own, have a day on the sofa or even just read a book for a few hours, let your brain switch off by not having to make an effort talking to other people, you’ll be amazed at how relaxing it can be.

1. Be kind to yourself
We know Christmas is the time for buying presents for others, however it’s also the time when you should treat yourself! Take advantage of the Christmas deals, whether it’s some new clothes for the new term, a new gadget or even a new book. Make some time to have a bubble bath, make sure you get enough sleep and generally take It easy.
